Abstract

Crotalaria pallida is a medicinal herb with various beneficial properties such as antibacterial properties, anti-inflammatory properties, antipyretic properties, estrogenic properties, to list a few. In order to realize its benefits, an attempt to successfully multiply, C pallida via micropropagation was conducted. Explants were obtained from shoots germinated from sterilised seeds and cultured in varying concentrations of IBA and zeatin in factorial design. Concentrations used were 0.0 mg/L, 1.0 mg/E, 2.0 mg/E, 3.0 rng/L. 4.0 mg/E, and 5.0 mg/L. The optimum plant growth medium for shoot induction was the control medium. MS medium while for root induction it was MS medium supplemented with 5.0 mg/L IBA. Microprogation could serve as an alternative reproduction system for C. pallida.
